NZYPT Alumni are invited to join our mailing list to stay up to date with the Tournament and the Trust that now supports it. We are a registered charity but we do NOT target Alumni for funding directly. We hope you will be our ambassadors – a particularly important role as we try to bring IYPT to Auckland in 2026.
As you probably remember, NZYPT has been organised on a purely voluntary basis for twenty years. This year the group incorporated as a charitable trust, registered Charity CC62496 to enable our expansion plans. We need to be able to sign contracts for the Tournament as the Tournament, not as private individuals, for several reasons including
- Ensuring the Tournament continues to grow. Volunteer efforts have reached their limits and we cannot expand unless a programme manager is hired to run it. They need to have an employer.
- As a charity we have access to additional funds.
- To bring IYPT to New Zealand in 2026 we will need all sorts of contracts in place. venue hire, catering, insurance, etc.
