It costs about $50K a year to run the New Zealand Young Physicists’ Tournament and send a Representative team to the International Competition. A huge thank you to all our amazing sponsors and supporters in 2025

Trust supporters demonstrate their commitment to STEM education and developing future science and engineering leaders. Donations are always welcome! There are also exciting sponsorship opportunities to support the Trust, the National Tournament and our Representative teams in 2026 and 2027
2026
The New Zealand Young Physicists’ Tournament will be held in Auckland on March 21st. We will be seeking:
- Product contributions. Prizes for the winning teams, and branded items as thank you gifts for the volunteer jurors and all participating students.
- Lunch and snack sponsor. In 2025 we catered for over 100 people; most of them hungry teenagers!
- Volunteer jurors. People who have tertiary physics qualifications and continue to use them professionally such as teachers, post graduate students, professional physicists and engineers.
This starts of the selection process for our the NZ Representative team for the International Young Physicists’ Tournament in Zurich, Switzerland. Additional opportunities for this stage include:
- Team apparel. Shirts, travel jackets and other items for a unified team look.
- Training camp sponsors. There will be three training camps between February 2026 and the team’s departure in July
2027
The National Tournament will be held early in the school year.
Between the 5th and 7th of July 2027 we host the
International Young Physicists’ Tournament in New Zealand.
This will be a big event for us and the country. Sweden 2025 involved nearly 350 people form 35 participating countries. It’s also a once in a lifetime opportunity to associate your organisation with physics education and talent development in New Zealand.
We need to raise about $750K and need all sorts of assistance from room hire to coaches, professional support to prizes. Watch this space for opportunities as our plans develop!
