The New Zealand Young Physicists’ Trust registered as charity CC62496 in July 2024. The Trust was incorporated to build on the work of the countless volunteers that have seen New Zealand participate in both a national schools and the international tournament since 2003. In addition to running the annual New Zealand tournament and taking a representative team to the international tournament, we have three workstreams.

1. Fully establishing our new Trust. Recruiting new Trustees, formalising policies and procedures, setting up our Alumni group, etc.
2. Increasing school engagement with the national competition. We’ve taken this as far a voluntary effort can and want to establish a part-time national coordinator to work with physics teachers across the moto. It’s especially important to do more outside of Auckland.
3. Host the 2026 International competition in NZ.
