It&#8217;s a busy programme of competition rounds (physics fights) and seeing some of NZ&#8217;s exciting innovation and technology opportunities. We run an annual national competition for school teams that is based on seven of the seventeen IYPT problems. The Trust also uses these IYPT problems in a competition for individual students that selects a five student NZ Representative team that competes in the International Young Physicists\u2019 Tournament, (IYPT) every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iypt.org.nz\/?page_id=637\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"637\">The problems for IYPT 2027 are published here. <\/a>The seven selected for New Zealand Tournaments will be announced in mid-August<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-blue-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-6a962c8ff7c9ddd7bcd59dc8bcff86c2\">About our <strong>IYPT 2027 Logo<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Like it? We love it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The Trust ran the national FUSION design competition asking high school students to design the tournament logo for the 40th International Young Physicists&#8217; Tournament (IYPT) being held in Auckland in July 2027.Congratulations to Nicholas Yeung of Macleans College, Auckland who won the FUSION design competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Nicholas crammed so much meaning into what is a very clear and clean design. <br>\u2022 a continuous line design to evoke an oscilloscope&#8217;s trace.<br>\u2022 The harbour bridge and sky tower landmarks.<br>\u2022 A sailboat silhouette for the city of sails.<br>\u2022 A &#8216;wave duality&#8217; of sea and physics waveform.<br>\u2022 global competitors navigating to our far shores by following the southern cross stars.<br>\u2022 Colours inspired by the New Zealand Flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Many thanks to our amazing judges Anita Madhav, Sam Allan and Jerry K.
